Review of Lion (2015) by David F — 07 Mar 2017
This is a really well-acted, well-plotted, well-presented story about a small child in India who falls asleep on a train and gets lost only to be adopted by an Australian couple from an ophanage. When he's in his twenties he follows the suggestion of someone at a party to use Google Earth to try to locate the town he was from and reunite with his biological family.
There are inner-conflicts and issues with his adoptive family to be dealt with but he eventually starts to put the pieces together to fill in the gaps left by his childhood separation. The conclusion is a very powerful example of a story reaching a climax and tying up all the strands of the narrative almost perfectly.
This is a great movie about what it means to be alive.
