Review of Lincoln (2012) by Dann M — 28 May 2018
From director Steven Spielberg comes the Civil War epic Lincoln. Despite the title, the film is actually about the passage of the 13th Amendment and the political savviness of President Lincoln and his allies in bringing it about.
The all-star cast is incredible, featuring Daniel Day-Lewis, David Strathairn, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader and Lee Pace. Day-Lewis's performance as Lincoln is amazing, a truly seminal performance that's absolutely captivating.
However, the script has some problems and tries to cover too much. Yet despite a few awkward missteps, Lincoln is a well-crafted and ambitious film that's compelling and inspirational.
