Review of Lincoln (2012) by Kimberly B — 28 Sep 2013
I was expecting more of a sweeping biopic based off of Lincoln's life, so I was taken aback that the movie has so much back-room politicking and was essentially two and a half hours of talking. But still, that talking was great.
It's very cool to see Spielberg direct with such restraint, the production design felt very meticulous, the cinematography was beautiful and all of the performances were wonderful. Spielberg might have been born to make a huge, sweeping spectacle of an Abraham Lincoln biopic (and that is certainly a movie I would love to see), but he eventually became a mature enough director to make this one instead.
