Review of Lincoln (2012) by Joseph G — 08 Jan 2016
I guess I will give this film one more viewing to see if I'm any more compelled than the first time. I thought there was no way I could be let down by the Spielberg/Lewis combo but unfortunately I was, the film drags and leads to nowhere in a anticlimactic ending that you've read in history books since being a child.
I must be a child of the 90's / 00's when I expected a "Inglorious Basterds" type of ending where Lincoln was to go out in a ball of flames, but when the film gets to the point of the assassination it conveniently ends and wraps up like a episode of dateline that ends the show with rolling credits to tell you how many years the person got behind bars.
In a sense I guess that's how I felt in this film, kinda locked up waiting on my sentence to end.
