Review of Like Father (2018) by Jay B — 02 Aug 2018
I actually enjoyed this film - despite its predictability, its familiar tropes, its stereotypical roster of supporting characters. Bell and Kramer show off their acting chops, and wind up taking us on a very credible father-daughter hate/love journey.
But, the treacle-y interlude music nearly killed the buzz. Why, why WHY do composers insist on hitting us over the head with such dorkey musical cues? [Wait. She's *sad* she was left at the alter?? Thank God for the guitar muzak melody line played in a miner key. I would have never picked up on it otherwise.].
