Review of Lifeforce (1985) by Jonathan L — 27 May 2010
Fascinating Sci-fi horror movie from Tobe Hooper and Dan 'O Bannon is one of the most underrated of it's kind. Patrick Stewart does a minor role in this movie, I also love how this movie does a interesting reinvention on the vampire and zombie subgenre by telling us that vampires, succubus and zombies of legends and myth came from aliens eons ago.
It's also nice to see that the vampires in this movie aren't portrayed as stereotypes of the Dracula kind as they have no fangs and don't suck blood but suck out energy/lifeforces/youth/souls instead of blood. I really love how fresh this concept on the tired film vampire genre is and did something different.
Matilda May steals the show as the main vampiress from space, the special effects are good for it's time and should be seen. Not as good as the book but quite fun.
