Review of Lifeboat (1944) by Joel H — 03 Aug 2009
Not my favorite of Hitchcock's films. The setting is claustrophobic, as you might expect from a cramped lifeboat in the midst of open ocean. I mean, this aspect is done well, and the execution is good, but I guess this suffers from poor casting, leading to irritating characters.
The best part of the film is definitely watching the survivors' descent into desperation, and maybe even Willy and his interactions, too. This is a fascinating experiment by Hitchcock, but like I said previously, not my favorite.
