Review of Life with Father (1947) by Vj B — 14 Jun 2007
What a comedy classic. Based on the play which is based on the biographical novel of the same name, Life With Father is a hilarious view into the lives of the super-aristocratic Day family in late 19th century New York.
William Powell's performance as Clarence Day, Sr. is practically perfect, providing such terrific comedic pause and exaggeration, and we even get to see a young Liz Taylor in one of her first roles.
Life With Father is above all a family movie, strung together with tender moments with the flamboyant and VERY particular father. Definitely a must see.
