Review of Life of Pi (2012) by Calvin R — 08 Sep 2013
Life of Pi is not what I expected. I have never read the book, so I can not state if whether the book is better than the movie, but with most of adaptations, one can assume that the book might be better.
(Just an assumption). The movie is a slow paced movie, and although a bit long, the movie is a pretty good movie. The movie is over two hours long and if you are going to watch it I suggest you do when you have a clear mind and ready to focus, because like I said it is slow paced.
The movie is visually stunning and I assure you you will enjoy a lot of the scenery, but there were times where I felt they went a little overboard with the cgi. (Of course most of it is cgi, but there were times where I felt that some things were just unnecessary) Although some of those parts are somewhat bothersome it is still not enough to take away from everything else.
I was originally going to give this movie three stars, but because of Suraj Sharmas performance I bumped it up to a four star rating. His performance was just amazing. He did not over do it and he made you feel what he was feeling during the scenes.
He did an extraordinary job playing the character of Pi.
