(2012) Life Of Pi.
FANTASY ADVENTURE DRAMA.
I just want to point out that I'm reviewing this in "2D" since that was how I saw it- not as how it's intended to be seen which is in 3D. I feel that the amazing 3D visuals can sometimes detract viewers from the initial storyline since it is after all based on a novel written by Yann Martel.
It is called "The Life Of Pi" because it is about how this particular East Indian person got this unusual name in the first place, and the adventure he had to endure that went along with it. 'Pi' at first started as an embarrassing name for him which was short from "Piscine", but was pronounced as "Pissing" which his father named him because he used to love swimming in radiant swimming pools, and one of those pools happens to be his favorite called the 'Piscine Molitor' resulting his son's full name to be 'Pisicine Molitor Patel'. Piscine then managed to convince his fellow peers to call him 'Pi' after memorizing many numbers before 3.14. And it was about this time his real adventure begins involving being stranded on a small boat with a Bengal tiger whom he calls Richard Parker, since his parents owned some of the animals from the zoo where his parents were renting the property from.
All I can say is that the viewing experience would have been better had it been seen on 3D than on 2D since a considerable amount of the sequences are quite visionary. Some of the little things baffled me such as if Pi initially didn't want the tiger or the hyena for that matter to tag along with him, he did have the opportunity to hit these aggressive animals with his paddle and back into the water. Movie doesn't really amount to anything except to witness an artificial journey.
2.5 out of 4.
