Review of Life of Crime (2013) by Emiy K — 22 Jun 2015
It's an interesting take on the bad-guy-with-a-heart-of-gold/kidnap-to-get-rich scheme tropes. The beginning exceeds the rest of the movie in most ways but the characters are interesting, especially Will Forte as the coward, would-be beau and Isla Fisher as the cunning mistress.
Yasiin Bey found a role that fit him. He always seemed likable even if his actions weren't. The plot slowed dramatically when the story couldn't seem to figure out where to go next. I also didn't find the ending particularly clever or satisfying.
Aniston's growth of a "backbone" is laughable. All in all, I did enjoy this movie. It's fun to watch as long as you're willing to forgive the final act of it's many flaws.
