Review of Life of Brian (1979) by Anders D — 12 Dec 2009
I think the importance of this film is more rlevant today than ever. It pricks the pomposity of religious zealots and those so brainwashed they don't even realise that there is an argument, let alone listen to it.
I remember at the time of its release that John Cleese and Michael Palin appeared on a TV debate with Malcolm Muggeridge and, I think, a bishop, who were not prepared to listen to the Python's views and made fools of themselves in this respect. I'm not sure the world has moved any further toward rationality, but thank the mythical entity that the Pythons made this masterpiece to hold up a mirror to our ignorance.
