Review of Life of Brian (1979) by Brian C — 29 Jul 2013
Easily Monty Python's best and funniest film, Life of Brian is pure comic gold that works on so many levels I wouldn't even know where to begin. Religious mockery has never been more genuinely thought-provoking and truthful- anyone who gets offended by the messages in this film knows that it's exposing a very real stupidity and it scares them.
Satirical benefits aside, the jokes are smarter, more layered, and at times even sillier than Holy Grail. While Holy Grail may have the non-stop surface jokes, Life Of Brian is ultimately the one with the most staying power.
Flawlessly written and one of the funniest movies you'll ever see. And on a personally biased note, I'm a sucker for any movie with a main character known as Brian of Nazareth.
