Review of Life Itself (2014) by Gavin P — 09 Sep 2015
An interesting look into the life and final months of Roger Ebert, the world's foremost film critic for over 45 years - a bit of an inspiration for me! Doesn't delve too deeply into why he was such a good writer or his methods for reviewing films, but does have lots of good archival footage of 'Siskel & Ebert' - the template for our own Margaret & David.
Plenty of sadness, as he lived without his jaw for the final six years of his life and many of the interviews were done after he passed, so there's always a hint of sadness, but it does give an interesting insight into the film business, especially with Scorsese and Herzog.
Good, but nothing too new or shocking, just a nice story of a man living his dream.
