Review of Life Is Beautiful (1997) by Brandon W — 04 Feb 2015
I was watching it in school at first with the Italian dub which students were bothered with. Then the next day, the teacher found the English dub and lots of students were happy, except me, but I wasn't bothered by it and I'll still watch it if it has to be that way.
But I watched the whole thing on Netflix because I really wanted to know what's going to happen. So for the original dub, Life Is Beautiful is an amazing movie that was a risky thing to do that involves the Holocaust.
Putting humor in it could've easily be taken the wrong way and just come up as a bit disgraceful, especially if it takes place during the Holocaust. But it uses it in the right moments which are very weird, but funny at the same time.
Roberto Benigini is really good in it and always tried to keep it in spirit and hope which is something that other Holocaust films didn't use, hope. I do like that Guido would say anything to not get his son's mind screwed up which is the right thing to do.
The characters are memorable, and the plot is really good. Life Is Beautiful is the first Italian movie that I seen, and it's my favorite Italian film so far.
