Review of Life as a House (2001) by Terhi S — 04 Jan 2010
This is a highly-predictable film, but it is so well acted and has so much heart that one can hardly not like it! Almost every relationship in the film is aimed at liking the characters and, why not? Kline and Scott-Thomas' relationship is true and credible while Christensen and Malone's relationship, although predictable, has great moments throughout the film.
The film may have some additional characters and relationships that are not necesarily needed for the story of the film, but the film as it is works perfectly. The story is tragic and tears may fall at several scenes while watching it, but the the scenes that work better are the moments of simple affection between the main characters.
