Review of Life as a House (2001) by Tania A — 29 Aug 2010
Sam: You knew you were dying from the start?
George: We're all dying from the start. I just got moved to the head of the line.
I didn't pay much attention to this movie until I saw that Hayden Christensen was playing one of the main characters. With little expectations I started watching the movie and wauw! It was so beautiful, raw and full of emotion. In this movie Kevin Kline portraits a father who is diagnosed with cancer and wants to spend his last summer building a house, together with his troubled son (Hayden Christensen). Hayden pulls off the anger and frustration and he perfectly acts the rebellious, outraged teenager of the 2000s. I must say this is one of the most touching and heartfelt movies I've seen in a while. It made me laugh, cry and appreciate life even more. Sadly, Life as a house is overlooked and underrated by most people...
