Review of Lie with Me (2004) by Cem Ü — 19 Aug 2007
This canadian example of erotica wins and loses for me at the same time. I love the fact that the girl gets away with everything shed does (this is a big no-no of hollywood. the direction subverts the generalities found in erotic films: namely that you descrbie eroticisiim through the female body. here, the female body is rarely seen completely naked, however, the focus is on the male body. Shots of Eric Balfour are much more aestheticized than Lauren Lee. The frames are beautiful, some of the scenes are worth putting up on the wall and scrutinizing. However, once the story winds 3/4s down the way, it actually turns into a plotline, which delivers the end, as there is not enough dialogue, and as at one point Lauren Lee says "sex is just not enough!".
This movie was banned from being shown in Turkey by the way...
