Review of Liberal Arts (2012) by Kinho M — 24 Apr 2014
Living in the real world, being an adult...it's a noose hanging on all of our necks unfortunately. But why should that be unfortunate? That's the question that ultimately gets tackled in adorable Josh Radnor's Liberal Arts. A coming of age tail for the middle age person as such, something I have not seen quite often, or even told so lightly and well.
While I do feel Radnor has created a story which should have more grab, Liberal Arts doesn't really need that grab, just a light touch on your hand to tell you "everything is going to be okay". Witty, humorous, cleverly written and touching, Radnor has created a story for young adults, middle age adults and even an older generation, to wide spread its issues of wanting to be older and wanting a sense of being young and free again. "No one wants to be an adult...it's the world's dirty little secret".
For someone wanting to escape the threat of becoming nothing but a sitcom character, Radnor has stood tall and shown not only can he act, but write and direct brilliant, engaging and smart films.
