Review of Leviathan (1989) by Kevin T — 15 Dec 2006
Starring: Peter Weller, Richard Crenna, Amanda Pays, Daniel Stern, Ernie Hudson, and Hector Elizondo.
Directed by George P. Cosmatos.
Written by David Webb Peoples and Jeb Stuart.
Rated R (for sci-fi violence and gore, and for language).
Running time approximately 1 hour 38 minutes.
If pacing is an issue and you've made a film that's only 98 minutes long, you need to go back to film school. Leviathan is bad on quite a few levels. There are a few really creepy moments here and there, but mostly it's just bad. The acting is bad, the script is bad, the creature (which shows up in the very end) looks bad and the story is bad. That's a lot of bad. * (out of ****) D.
