Review of Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) by Brad G — 25 Jun 2009
The team of Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Murtaugh (Danny Glover) is as important to my childhood as The Monster Squad, The Last Starfighter, or The Karate Kid and it was really with the second outing that I completely fell in love with the buddy cop genre as a whole.
Gone is all that dour mopey suicide angst. In is the fun and humor of killing racist drug lord bastards. Parts 3 and 4 continue the silly, but Part II is really the only one of the franchise that perfectly captures the balance of the humor and the violence.
And I gotta say that the only time Iâ??ve ever really enjoyed Eric Clapton was when he was scoring those first two movies. Great use of Knockinâ?? on Heavenâ??s Door at the end. VF.
