Review of Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) by Manicure — 22 Nov 2020
“Lethal Weapon 2” drops the half-assed dramatic pretentiousness of the first installment and goes for a more lighthearted tone and tighter pacing. I feel bad for Shane Black’s scrapped script, but the leads have better chemistry, the humor stinks 80’s but delivers, and the action sequences improved significantly.
Joe Pesci’s character is annoying as hell but triggers a lot of memorable moments. We are talking about pure entertainment, but I could feel the magic and the heart being in the right place. By far my favorite “Lethal Weapon”, and probably the only more-than-decent entry in the franchise.
