Review of Let the Right One In (2008) by Shaun J — 11 Jun 2014
Overrated, but not bad by any means. It's actually quite compelling--even scary--when it tries to be. Furthermore, Let the Right One In asks all the right questions: How far will we go to survive; to protect; to love? Speaking of which, the relationship between the 12-year-olds is cute, innocent, and believable--despite its obvious complexity.
On the other hand, the sub-plots, while pretty good for filler/ extra food-for-thought, seem very out-of-place. Oh, and the beginning of the film is extremely generic and boring...I recommend making a sandwich or popcorn or something to help pass the time.
If you're really into vampires, foreign films, or unusual (though effective) romances, go see this movie. Otherwise, you'll likely be dissatisfied.
