Review of Let the Right One In (2008) by Prabhat R — 04 Nov 2012
Combine every possible vampire movie there is, and the synergy would still fall short of the impact this movie had on me. Besides bloodsucking, this movie also stands for friendship, love, nature vs nurture, ostracism, tolerance, and so much more.
And all of it, regardless of how briefly put, has been filmed with a dreamy balance and pace. The movie truly belongs to Lina Leandersson, the adorable and scarred vampire, Other actors, too, did a fabulous job, especially Lina's caretaker/hopeful lover.
But the real brilliance lies in the source material, John Ajvide Lindqvist's book. Read it before or after watching this movie, it doesn't matter, because you will be left in complete awe of both the forms of material.
