Review of Let Me In (2010) by Matt-Dave S — 10 Jan 2013
I watched this not long after watching the original Swedish version, Let the Right One In, and I was surprisingly let down. This movie has 80% of the same dialogue, the same scene progression, and only one new character.
So does this mean Let Me In somehow ruined Let the Right One In for me? I took a while to think about it, and I noticed the absence of some of the subtleties that made the Swedish version so good. I wouldn't go so far as to say this movie has been dumbed-down thanks to Hollywood, but it just isn't as interesting thanks to some liberties taken with the characters.
On the upside, the movie does look good, and this is the bare-bones structure of the story that was so good when I first experienced it. I'd be willing to bet most might just like whichever movie they saw first.
