Review of Let Me In (2010) by Chana P — 21 Mar 2012
If you have seen the original film then you pretty much know what to expect, there are a few minor changes here and there but the overall story is them same. Although I prefer the original film to this one, I still think the remake did a good job at capturing the essence of the film.
This isn't your typical vampire story and there isn't much action in it. The plot is centered around a friendship between a young, socially awkward boy Owen and a girl Abby who became a vampire as a child.
It's a childhood romance story of sorts, a coming of age story, and the unusual bond Owen has with the vampire girl next door. The film really only gives you a small glimpse of the story without much background so there's plenty of mystery behind who or what Abby is or where she came from.
SPOLIER ALERT! And because of small window into the story, you kind of have to make up your own mind as to whether Abby is sincere in her friendship or if she is using Owen for her own purposes as a replacement for the man with her who seems to be losing his nerve.
