Review of Less Than Zero (1987) by Daniel F — 31 May 2007
OK, so I only rented it 'cause I'm a Bret Easton Ellis fan, full of the knowledge that it was pretty much an 80's brat pack movie, and that's all I came away with really! There was no attempt to convey the alienation and numbness of the characters in the book, instead it was happy to go full force on the 80's drug experience.
Again, Robert Downey Jr made a boring flick watchable, which is fairly high praise in this case. Interesting as a snapshot of a generation, but very little else.
