Not bad, a good mix of 80s upper-crust decadence and style, with none of the laugh-out-loud corniness of fare like "St. Elmo's Fire." Downey Jr. is excellent in a break-out role along with James Spader.
I'm not surprised Andrew McCarthy never reached stardom, but he's a good lead here, and gives life to some pretty mediocre lines with Jami Gertz. What's missing is any hint that this is from a Bret Easton Ellis novel, but I'm still not sure whether that hurts it or improves it.
