Review of Less Than Zero (1987) by Jason Y — 28 Apr 2005
VHS First Viewing, 2 Kanievska films seen.
Novelist Bret Easton Ellis was so embarassed with this film, an adaptation of his novel of the same name, he didn't attend the premiere. While I did not really dislike the film, I doubt it really told the same story that Ellis wrote in his novel. I haven't read the book, but American Psycho and The Rules of Attraction were both important satirical films. Less than Zero left no mark on me, except for the Bangles' song during the opening credits! Just kidding, that's a bit harsh. I really liked some of the performances, too.
