Review of Les Misérables (2012) by Whereis R — 27 Sep 2013

It's hard not to compare this to the 1998 version; this one was a lot less sombre (naturally for a musical). You could definitely tell who was cast for their acting prowess/star power and who was cast because they actually were skilled in musical theater.

The major characters were well-portrayed, but the minor characters were arguably better singers. This adaptation also filled in some of the plot holes in the earlier film (no doubt due to its length).
