Review of Les Misérables (1998) by Barbara M — 01 Jan 2008
Incredible.
I had only known a small part of the story, and was shocked with the ending and the whole situation between Jean Valjean, Cosette, and her mother. WOW...
Liam Neeson, one of the best actors of all time, gives the most life-like portrayal of Jean Valjean. Never once did he lose character.
Geoffrey Rush (Barbossa :) also did fabulous (his role in the movie brought out his ugliness even more than in Pirates).
I also liked Uma Thurman as Fantine--she was so good that it was almost too hard to watch her as she acted.
Completely recommend this movie...I've gotta see the musical...
