Review of Les Misérables (1998) by Raji K — 04 Dec 2009

As a long time fan of Hugo's novel I was quite disappointed with this movie. The majority of the cast was well done, especially Rush as Javert. However Neeson's Valjean fell short for me. The movie felt very slow given the short amount of time they had to include a great deal of information.

Perhaps I dislike the movie because certain aspects of the story that made me love the book are not present in it's cinematic counterpart. Overall, it seemed that when they condensed the story, it took out too much flavor as well.
