Review of Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man (2006) by Mark S — 27 Mar 2008
Whilst this is not quite as good a tribute as the Zen Buddhist/poet/genius Leonard Cohen deserves, it's still an interesting look into his life and work, and the segments where he talks about various chapters of his life are fascinating to hear.
The tribute shows were recorded in Brighton and Sydney, and are quite low-key affairs. The likes of Nick Cave, Martha and Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton, Antony and Jarvis Cocker give adequate performances, and it was good to see Cohen's former backing singers Perla Batalla and Julie Christensen make guest appearances.
I'm looking forward to seeing the man himself this June.
