Review of Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010) by Bikerjames — 04 Jun 2018
Not all animation is meant for all kids to watch. This is a particularly violent movie, with little in the way of humor. The story seemed like a comparison to Nazi Germany to me. You have a race of Owls calling themselves the "Pure Ones" and want to destroy all other owls on earth to have a master race.
It also pits brother against brother. Dark stuff. The violent action scenes were so chaotic you couldn't always tell what was going on. As an adult animation buff, I liked this movie. The story may have been a little simplistic, but the animation itself is absolutely stellar and quite beautiful in spots.
The flight scenes were amazing. The voice characterizations are way above average. A lot of work went into the making of the film and it shows. Watch it on Blu Ray for the best enjoyment. I did not see the 3D version so cannot comment on that.
