Review of Legend (2015) by Kevin R — 09 Apr 2016
A paranoid schizophrenic walks into a bar...
In the 1960s Reggie and Ron find themselves both out of prison and various insane asylums long enough to be served London's underground criminal underworld on a silver platter with friends in the government to keep them safe from harm's way. Unfortunately, the brother's personal life exposes them as a target in ways that will doom their career.
"I'm a giver. I'm not a receiver. I'm not a fag.".
Brian Helgeland, director of Payback, A Knight's Tale, The Order, 42, and Payback, delivers Legend. The storyline for this picture is entertaining and contains marvelous characters. The script is well written as are the relationship subplots. The acting is marvelous and the cast includes Tom Hardy, Emily Browning, Colin Morgan, Paul Anderson, Christopher Eccleston, and Tara Fitzgerald.
"I've got a face like a gorilla's ass.".
I have been wanting to see this since it was in theatres and just didn't get a chance to so I grabbed it from Red Box yesterday. This was a very solid gangster film. This may not go down as an all time classic, but I would compare it to Public Enemy. This is a must see and borderline worth adding to your collection.
"Give Ron your fucking sausage.".
Grade: B+.
