Review of Legend (2015) by Luke K — 10 Sep 2015
(I've head to write this twice now).
Legend became everything I dreamed of from this film...for the first 40 minutes. Im going to be brutally honest, despite Hardy's uncanny performance from his twin characters which we have no come to expect from him which he maintains throughout the film, Helgeland relies very heavily on the title of this film. The next hour and 20 minutes of the film seems to take you backwards on a ride which never seems to understand itself. It focuses on far to much of what the film isn't suppose to be and keeps you waiting for nothing and never brings you back in due to it's very anti climatic ending which goes against the movie. What I hate most how is makes you want something so badly to happen but everything this film does matters not by the end like it was all for nothing.
If the film continued on the path it set out on the first 40 minutes then it was have been the 5 stars I wanted it to be, THIS IS NOT A BAD FILM, just a very misplaced one. Watch with alcohol or not because either way you won't forget this any time soon.
