Review of Legend (2015) by Sean H — 10 Sep 2017
Legend is a solid but ultimately a flawed film starring Tom Hardy playing two gangster twin brothers set in East London in the 1960s. Both characters, in their contrasting styles, compliment each other in the best and worst ways - ultimately testing their brotherhood and leading to various predicaments and foul situations.
The real story of the brothers is both anti-climactic and mostly unimpressive. There seems to be very little triumph or learning achieved by any character. Tom Hardy's portrayal of the openly gay brother Ronald Cray is the highlight of the film, who suffers from a bad case of paranoid schizophrenia and is always getting his brother Reggie into terrible situations. It's also a plus that he kind of talks like Bane from the Dark Knight.
Save this movie for a late night stream and you'll be happy you did.
