Review of Legally Blonde (2001) by John R — 24 Jan 2011
Smart and sassy romantic comedy, making it an enjoyable movie for the tag-along guys as well. Reese Witherspoon pulls off a heroine you can both laugh at and root for as she stumbles her way through Harvard law.
What makes it work is Elle is NOT a dumb-blonde, not a snobby elitist and she has a joyful spirit. She pushes past her disappointments, pushes the limits of "acceptability" and in so doing makes a few waves. It is inevitably satisfying to see her get back at those who treat her with disdain while growing personally herself.
