"Left on Purpose" is in some ways two films. One is about Mayer Vishner, a delightful-but-depressed man who earlier in his life had been a prominent Yippee activist and organizer. The other is about Justin Schein, the filmmaker, and how he is increasingly drawn into Vishner's struggle with life.
Will Vishner feel compelled to take his own life because he has been talking to the filmmaker about doing so? Or are the ongoing conversations with the filmmaker the last thing on Earth keeping Visher alive?
