Review of Left On Purpose (2015) by Ferne P — 30 Jan 2017
A beautiful film in every way. The sensitivity and patience that Justin Schein displays in approaching this topic is astounding. One of the lasting, timeless effects of a film like this is that no one wants to talk about the fact that they might have a family member who is contemplating ending their lives.
...but that doesn't make it less crucial for those family members to have to talk. This film offers a conversation starter for all those people who are suffering and those who love them. The heartache and guilt of the family members who struggle with these issues on a day to day basis is one of the last taboos, and this film poetically opens up the doors to a discussion that people are afraid to have.
I urge everyone to see this important film. It will continue to be more and more important as more and more people have the privilege of seeing it.
