Review of Left Behind: World at War (2005) by Bryan T — 10 Sep 2006
Ok... I just read the other comments about this movie and I don't know what they were watching but yuck...
The short version of my comments here: Do NOT watch this movie. It is NOT entertaining and you will have wasted part of your life for having watched it.
Now for the long version. Where to start.
I picked this up due to, in part, the cover featuring planes and explosions etc, as well as the synopsis on the back of the box. I didn't know this was part of a series and to be honest I don't think that it would have mattered in my selection anyway.
The movie premise was good but the execution was seriously lacking. It felt like the director wanted to do too many things at once and in the end nothing was accomplished. There was no character development at all, I held no emotion for any of the charaters and when one of them died I simply didn't care, I just wanted it to end.
This was not a "particularly crisp and effective drama". It's comical and completely unbelievable. There are no explanations for the actions of the main characters save for "I'm doing God's Will". Yeah, uh huh, perhaps you should actually describe God's will, then the audience would know what is going on.
I have more to say about this movie, but I think that it's getting too long already.
