Review of L'Eclisse (1962) by Beatrix C — 17 Jun 2007
My favorite Antonioni, and that's saying a lot. Perhaps the most perfect non-plot driven structure A - or anyone - brought to a film. The themes of alienation, loss of communication and real relationships, gain their power from layer on layer of visual imagery, from scenes in which the characters simply move.
The culminating stunning, prolonged silent montage is one of the great moments in all of film.
