Review of L'Eclisse (1962) by Arin D — 23 Sep 2007
Starting with a break up that is agonisingly drawn out, Antonioni explores the disconnection and distance between people, even lovers. The glamourous Monica Vitti is pursued by Alain Delon, but she finds love too much of an effort - she's in her own words tired, depressed, disgusted and disorientated.
The final segements, overloaded with symbols of alienation and loneliness, is sublime.
