Review of L'Eclisse (1962) by Jordan W — 02 Feb 2008
Lâ??eclisse is the third part of a loosely-connected trilogy of films, each of which feature â??una coppia in crisiâ??. Vitti and Delon play disillusioned lovers in a film which exposes the apathy which characteristed the young middle-class Italian population of the 1960s.
L'eclisse is a triumph of form, more experimental than L'avventura in its use of sound and landscape. The final 5 minutes are worth watching for alone.
