Review of Leaving Las Vegas (1995) by Torrey P — 21 Aug 2008
Nicolas Cage plays a deadbeat alcoholic who has lost his family, career, home and anything else of worth in his life. He sells everything he owns heads to Vegas in a last attempt to drink himself to death.
Upon his arrival he meets Elisabeth Shue's character whom like Cage has her own vices stemming from her prostitution career. The film delves in to their lives as the two of them begin a unusual romance that, although selfish, allows both characters to briefly enjoy their doomed fate.
