Review of Leaving Las Vegas (1995) by Sebastian L — 14 May 2009
Sickening and painful. A very moving film about alcoholism and at the same time Cage's best performance I have ever seen. The beginning seemed especially strong and convincing to me, afterwards the story turned a bit one-dimensional.
Yet, moments of beauty and hope emerge all throughout the course of the movie. A very good movie, no doubt, but be careful to watch it in the right moment as it will probably leave you feeling empty in some way.
