Review of Leaving Las Vegas (1995) by Paul J — 25 Jun 2013
A deeply moving and tremendously heavy film. It's the ultimate love story in the sense that our two main characters love each other unconditionally. Despite their flaws (especially Nic Cage's character) they are still able to accept and care for one another.
It's easily the most honest film to portray alcoholism. The performances are stunning (Cage fully deserved his Oscar) and despite the fact that it's difficult to watch at times, it is truly an unforgettable movie experience.
Director Figgis also scored the film as well.
