Review of Leaves of Grass (2009) by Tiffany R — 16 Oct 2010
The story here is laughable and very disjointed to boot. Drug peddler Brady Kincaid [Edward Norton] concocts a scheme to provide himself the perfect alibi for a murder he plans to commit to avoid paying off a debt.
The plan? Have his twin brother Billy [also played by Norton] show himself around the town during the time he commits the deed. The trick? Get his clean cut brother to town and then get him to go along with the plan.
The problem here is that you don't really know what's going on for most of the film so you just sit there trying to stay awake and wondering why you're watching. Other than Norton's great performances as both Billy and Brady, there would indeed be no good reason to.
Norton will never actually be mistaken for an Oklahoma good old boy but he does a great job delivering some complex and thought-provoking dialog reminiscent of a Tarintino film.
Leaves of Grass would not be worth your time were it not for the dual performance of it's principal star, Edward Norton, but with that performance, I would recommend giving this one a watch.
