Review of Leaves of Grass (2009) by Niki C — 03 May 2012
Extreme disappointment. Ed Norton is my favorite actor but in this movie he's often overplaying his roles. The story itself is weak, but could be made into a nice one nighter with at least good dynamics.
Billy's budging romance is completely unnecessary. And that sexual abuse story? Why was it squeezed into the script at all? Actually, the movie doesn't know what it wants to be. Black comedy? No.
For that it wants to be too intellectual, but to be intellectual it's too gruesome sometimes. As a matter of fact, those shooting, killing scenes ARE almost comic at most time, being filmed so amateurish.
The plump blond cashier screaming scene was like ????? Same goes for the closing scene, Billy and beloved sitting in the rain idly. Crap, crap, crap.
