Review of Leaves of Grass (2009) by Tanner C — 09 Apr 2011
I wanted to like this movie a lot more than I did. Leaves of Grass starts off promising with some witty laughs and a good charm. But the deeper the movie delves into plot the harder it is to grasp what direction it wants to take you in. The film never recaptures what it first sets you up for in the first 30-45 minutes of the film. It quickly turns into a crime/drama that wants to be more by adding philosophical themes to it...from primarily a philosophy teacher.
With that being said. Leaves of Grass is still definitely worth watching and enjoyable to most. Edward Norton gives a great dual performance playing two different characters of two completely opposite personalities. Just don't go into it expecting a certain movie, because you'll walk away with more than that, and you won't know what to make of it.
